Copycats and plagiarists ganged up in 1995 to reduce the Ethiopic to fit the 221 characters of the computer character set. Some continued to concoct some 300 characters out of such spots. They all failed by the end of 1997 and the enemies of Ethiopic have started back tracking mainly because we continued to educate the public on the Internet.
