been getting numerous questions about Ethiopic, Ethiopia and Ethiopian.

Q? What is EthioWord?
A! It is an add-on EthioEdit program for typing Ethiopic in Microsoft
Word for Windows.
Q? Can I use the EthioWord (and GečzEdit programs) I bought for
Word 6.0 in Windows 98.
A! Yes, you can use it in Windows 3.1, 95 and 98.
Q? Can I install the EthioEdit and Word 6.0 in Windows 98.
A! Yes, Word 6.0 and EthioEdit do work in Windows 95 and 98. You do
not have to buy Word 7.0 or Word 97 unless you want to.
Q? Sometimes, my Ethiopic template does not work.
A! Do not save it when prompted by Word. Install the EthioEdit again.
Q? I just want the Ethiopic TrueType fonts only to type letters
and a few words in some other programs.
A! It is difficult to use the fonts alone. You still need our
programs.
Q? My Word has no Templates...
A! If it is not there under "File",
check it under "Tools".
Q? I am missing the Gečz ""
" series in Word, Publisher , etc.
A! Disable the "Smart
Quotes".
Q? I am having difficulty editing my
document because of overwriting. A!
"Unprotect " the document or disable the OVR.
Q? How do I convert my EthioWord documents to
HTML.
A! Save as HTML.
Q? How can I change an
Ethiopic HTML Internet document to a Microsoft Word document.

Highlight the portion you need and cut.
Start Word, paste and save it as doc.

Why don't you make a new dedicated Ethiopic program. A!
In the past we made dedicated Amharic and English programs like ModEth
because of the absence of programs. Microsoft Word and EthioWord
are the best programs since 1993.
Q? How do I change the typing method. A!
Click on "Applications" and delete the highlighted
"WINWORD". Q? How about Word
2000. A! EthioEdit works in Word 2000. Q?
I have been using the EthioEdit since 1993. Anything new. A!
Upgrade. You also get new fonts and the programs on CD.
Q? What is the price of EthioWord/GečzEdit. A! $199.00 plus freight.
Q? How can I send a Word document to someone
who does not have Word. A!
Windows Write and WordPad are good for Ethiopic.

A! Cut and paste as a new

A! Disable the "Track
Changes" command.

Change the security from "high" to "low" under Word
"Tools", "Options", "Security" and restart
the XP Word.
Q? Sometimes I lose the
Ethiopic screen when I "Load" it

It could be behind the Word 2002 screen. Minimize it.

Q? What type of programs use GečzEdit.
A! Any program which allows the substitution of at least one font.
Q? How do I type the Ethiopic numerals.
A! Strike [Comma] and the numbers for Ethiopic 1 to 0 and [Dot] and
numbers for the 10 to 100.
Q? Can not use GečzEdit Amharic P font in Windows 98
A! You can.
Q? Can not use GečzEdit Amharic P font in Windows 98 programs.
A! Upgrade to our new EGAmharic98 font.
Q? I used to read and print some Amharic text from Ethiopia and
lost them when I upgraded to Windows 98.
A! Their standard must have been for Windows 95. Try Netscape 4.0.
Q? Why do I see some weird Amharic characters
at
Weyanie and Shabia sites.
A! It is because of the fake and half
characters they use.
Q? I can not type some English words in some
programs without disabling the GečzEdit
A! You can.
Q? Which program do you recommend.

You do not have to buy a new Ethiopic system every time the operating system is changed.

My Windows 98 font installation misses the "Install New Font"
command. A! Get a complete

What is fake Ethiopic A!
These are false characters made out of parts. It is like writing
"W" using two "V" characters. See the example gif
below

How about half Ethiopic A!
These are incomplete characters with less than 221 glyphs. It is like
avoiding to write
"W" because it is not there. Q?
Why don't you like fake and half Ethiopic A!
They are gimmicks hdm
copycats and plagiarists are using as an excuse to
steal our work and undermine Ethiopic. Q?
How come I do not see the Gečz on all computers. A!
You are seeing the English only because you have the fonts. Similarly,
You have to have our Ethiopic fonts on the computer to see the
characters on the Net and save the documents on your own disks. Q?
How old is the Ethiopic alphabet. A!
Some Ethiopians trace its existence as far back as 5340 B.C. Top
