Netscape Instant Messenger
4.0
Are you still paying long
distance telephone fees? If you have a computer and access to
the Internet, download
the free Netscape Instant Messenger 4.0 and install
it. The Instant Messenger allows you to talk to anybody on the
Net who has the same program. Whatever you talk is picked up
by the microphone which you probably already have and the
voice from your long distance cheap talker comes over the
speakers of the computer.
Netscape Instant Messenger
(IM) also gives you the power to send instant messages in
Amharic and English.
Instant Messenger 4.0 also
lets you chat long distance with one or more friends in
Amharic and English. You can talk, IM and chat by just
switching between the Windows.
The IM and
Chat in Amharic requires our GečzEdit program. Start the
program by typing a:\geezedit in the RUN of Windows 98. We
recommend that you use the EGAmharic98 program and the
EGAmharic98 font. To type in Amharic you have to select the
font by clicking on the My IM icon. Select the Edit
Options > Edit Preferences >
General. Then click on the Font and apply the
EGAmharic98 font.
Most of
the features of Netscape IM 4.0 are similar to the AOL Amharic
Chat and IM which
we have been enjoying for some time.
Note: Some
people might think that you are crazy talking to a computer
and you better be prepared to explain or click on the
Pause button. Your IM and Chat sessions
are savable files.
